SPN: "Oubliette" and "Humanity" by mistalagan (Gen, Gabriel, Lucifer, Sam, Dean, Bobby NC-17)
Title: Oubliette
Author: mistalagan
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Lucifer, OMCs/Gabriel, Sam, Dean, Sam/Gabriel if you've got the goggles
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Oh boy. Rape, more rape (aka gangrape), bestiality, bondage, spit-roasting, drugs, humiliation, starvation, lack of kind deities, mention of double penetration, forced orgasm, object insertion, figging, whipping, mummification, watersports, scat, self-harm/attempted suicide
Word Count: 11996
Summary: "You like humans so much, Gabriel? Let's see how much you like being their bitch."

[Full prompt]From SpnKink:

Instead of killing Gabriel at Elysian Fields, Lucifer binds his brother's power (temporarily or permanently, I don't care). He sets Gabriel up in a little underground room, which is locked at all times except when - nightly - a group of men comes in to have some fun. (They have no idea he's an angel - they just know there's a free fuck out of it). They get off on roughing him up; anything that's humiliating and painful goes - DP, object insertion, spit roasting, whips, chains, blindfolds, forced orgasm, etc. Lucifer tells him that if he can make it out of the room and up the stairs to the street, he'll go free. But he's not that big, not compared to these guys, and they always grab him before he can even get to the door.

Maybe some of the men think it's all part of the scene - Gabe's not really unwilling. After all, he never says the safeword his dom gave them.

Bonus points if Team Free Will finds him and stages a rescue.

Please no demons - just normal human sadism.

Title: Humanity
Author: mistalagan
Artist: mangacrack
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Gabriel, Sam, Dean, Bobby (pre-Sam/Gabriel if you're looking for it)
Rating: R
Warnings: Allusions to prior rape, associated trauma symptoms, some body horror, some language.
Word Count: 17,200
Summary: Set after 7x04 (the Osiris episode), and sequel to Oubliette (please read warnings). They found Gabriel on a tip from Meg, of all people—beaten and abused, a shadow of what he used to be. It’s not easy taking care of a (temporarily, Sam’s sure—permanently, Gabriel thinks) powerless archangel, especially when dealing with issues of their own. And it would be a bad idea to forget about the Leviathans…

Bottom line: I may very well be showing my whumpy bias here, but I found "Humanity" really satisfying both as a recovery story and as a plotty slice-of-life story for Season 7. Nothing in here is too overblown or overdone, and I think it's well worth giving a read.

SPN: Feel the Freedom Like No Tomorrow by tasogareika
Title: Feel The Freedom Like No Tomorrow
Author: tasogareika
Artist: nanyakanya
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Jimmy (and the Novaks), Sam, Dean, Gabriel, Bobby, God/Castiel, the Leviathans and an OC. Also includes A DRAGON, just because. Gen overall, with mentions of canon Jimmy/Amelia and a smattering of (pre) Dean/Cas overtones
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Deviates from canon after 6.22 (or the early part of 7.01 depending on your view), so spoilers are up to there—although some season seven stuff also lurks about (mainly the existence of the Leviathans). This fic also contains weird psychological probings, delusional nutjobs, more angst than strictly necessary and other weird stuff (like A DRAGON). Also Gabriel, whose (re)existence alone totally deserves a warning of its own.
Word Count: 54,000
Summary: Jimmy Novak awakens back to a world where the Apocalypse did not happen and Castiel is apparently going around the world with his face and proclaiming himself 'God'—a 'God' who is directly linked to Jimmy, and where Jimmy happens to be the key factor in stopping this false God with help from the Winchesters, Bobby and a formerly dead archangel-cum-pagan god.

Bottom line: If you're desperate to read a Sam/Gabriel romance, this might satisfy on that level. I did enjoy the Sam/Gabriel parts of this, mostly because they were both insecure and skittish at times, and both were confident and agressive at times. (Just like real people!) But there were also a lot of cliches in the romance and the writing wasn't enough to pull it out. If you want a good plot, skip this one.

Title: Spare The Rod
Author: ghostwriter056

Warnings: pseudo incest (Dean is from an alternate reality), consensual sex between an adult and a minor (Dean is 15), discussion and non-graphic descriptions of the physical and psychological abuse of a minor. Sexual content is discussed, but very little of it is graphic. {Review note--I feel the consent in the story is problematic. I've discussed it in more depth in the review.]

Summary: Lilith's plans are in shambles and the door to Lucifer's cage has been well and truly lost, but Dean is still a demon and Sam is still bound to him with a stolen curse of sex and blood. All things considered, though, Sam's life could be worse and he is making peace not just with Dean, but with his own growing psychic gifts and the barrage of seemingly meaningless visions they inflict on him. But strange winds are starting to blow and after a series of disasters strike, Sam discovers that the greatest danger may be in the secrets that still lie between him and Dean. If Sam can't fix things before time runs out it won't be the Apocalypse, but it will still be the end of the world.

Review of Fortress and Static by glasslogicCollapse )

Bottom line: I really liked both of them. I felt that they were plotty, intricate, well-thought-out stories that pushed the envelope of what Sam and Dean were willing to do for each other. I was also very intrigued by the author's world-building of Heaven and Hell and her concept of how the macroverse of Supernatural worked.

That said, I also think that this is one of those "love or hate" series. My advice is to give the series a solid chance. If none of the issues I mention in the reivew is an absolute deal-breaker, I say give yourself at least the first two chapters of "Fortress" to see if you fall in the love camp.
